According to the DOT FMCSA, there are several reasons why a certified Medical Examiner can be removed from the National Registry.
DOT-mandated testing for controlled substances is not part of the physical qualification examination process and is not mandated by FMCSA.
Medical Examiners must continue to issue the Medical Examiner’s Certificate, Form MCSA-5876, to qualified drivers.
All MEs must maintain examination report forms and certificate copies for a minimum of three years.
The Medical Examiner will take the 10-year re-certification the same way they took the initial testing.
Avoid certification delays and upload your training certificate of completion to your DOT account as soon as you receive it.
